Although there are a number of famous tourist spots in Pakistan, we are stating rather lesser-known areas to explore. The government needs to give more attention to these places to develop tourism infrastructure and also to put more efforts to make these places more known to the tourists.
Pakistan fetches huge foreign reserves by promoting its tourism industry, which has been faded due to militancy, terrorism and chaos political instability. There are the following areas that not quite famous but are rather beautiful and best places for tourism.
Shangrila Resort, Skardu
Shangrila Resort Skardu, also known as “Heaven on Earth”, is nestled among some of the world’s highest peaks. Shangrila resort is located on the shore of a lake known as Lower Kachura Lake. The credit for the establishment of this gorgeous resort goes to the late Brig. (Retd) Muhammad Aslam Khan, the first commander of the Northern Scouts who liberated the Northern areas in 1948.
Another great aspect of this resort is the Shangrila or Lower Kachura Lake itself. This lake is encircled by the Shangrila resort, along which fruit-laden orchards and flower-filled gardens present a delightful view. Restaurant in Shangrila rest house is the highlight of this place, which is built in the structure of an aircraft.
Deosai
Deosai is the combination of two words ‘Deo’ (giant) and ‘Sai’ (shadow). It is known as the ‘land of giants’. It is situated in the Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is on the boundary of Karakorum and western Himalayas. The weather is quite unpredictable here. It is home of wild indigenous flowers, countless species of animal, including the brown bear and snow leopard. The Deosai Plateau, known as the highest plateau in the world Deosai Plains are a backwoods country at about 30 kilometres from Skardu.
Sheosar Lake is also part of Deosai. This lake is accredited as one of the highest lakes in the world. The deep blue water, with snow-covered mountains in backdrop, and greenery with wild flowers in foreground offer such a view in summers, that one is left amused for the rest of his life.
Naltar valley
Natar valley is situated in the north west of Gilgit Baltistan. It is 40 km from Gilgit city across the Nomal valley. It is known as true paradise. That’s why every year tourists from all over the world came to see its beauty and enjoy their summer holidays seasons. Every year, in the winter season, the national skating championship held on 1st January to end of February.
Shandur Top
Shandur Top is often referred to as the Roof of the World.. It is about 197 kilometers (122 miles) from Gilgit and 147 kilometers (91 miles) from Chitral. The version of polo game played in Shandur Polo Ground is considered to be the purist of all. It is also called free style polo. The beautiful polo ground of Shandur turns into a city of tents each year between 7 and 9 July due to Shandur Polo Festival. Shandur Polo Festival is continuously being held each year since 1936, and it is now a very famous event for tourists throughout the world.
Gojal Valley
Gojal is where Pakistan begins. featuring the cluster of tiny and large valleys, Gojal, the upper Hunza, is in the north of Gilgit, right at the edge of Pakistan. Gojal is the largest tehsil (sub-district) of Gilgit-Baltistan sharing borders with Afghanistan and China. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places of Pakistan. Surprisingly, not many Pakistanis have seen it or even heard about it.
Rama Meadow
Rama Meadows is situated near Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Rama valley is considered as one of the most comely valleys in Pakistan. Featuring flowing green meadows, striking trees and blooms, a pristine lake, mountain vistas and a tranquil ambience, Rama Meadows to be a picture-perfect destination. As it is about 3300 meters (10800 feet) above sea level, most of the year it is covered with a blanket of snow.
From Rama Meadows, The valley is flourishing with astronomically immense pine, cedar, fir and juniper trees. However, due to recent deforestation, there has been an astronomically immense loss of forest area.
Neelum Valley, Azad Kashmir
Neelum Valley is situated at the North and North-East of Muzaffarabad Azad Kashmir, running parallel to Kaghan Valley. The two valleys are only separated by snow-covered peaks, some over 4000m above sea level. Excellent scenic beauty, panoramic views, towering hills on both sides of the noisy Neelum River, lush green forests, enchanting streams and attractive surroundings make the valley a dream come true.
Siri Paye
Siri Paye is a hilltop, 6 km from Shogran, which is only 10 km from Kiwai village and 34 km from Balakot. Siri Paye itself is a queer—rather funny name. Literally in English, it would be “Head and Feet”. Locals have many myths coined to assign an origin to this name.
A beautiful lake is located in the Siri Paye called Paye Lake. The lake is surrounded by mighty mountains like Makra Peak, Moosa da Musalla, mountains of Kashmir and Malika Parbat. This lake is also called Siri Lake. A stamp has also been issued on the Payee Lake.
Ayun and Bamburet Valley
Ayun district is a village of Chitral. It is located 12 kilometers south of the city at the confluence of the River Bamburet .once a person see this heaven on earth, he becomes speechless to describe the beauty of the mountains surrounding the village.Beyond Ayun valley is Bamburet Valley, it is one of the three Kalash valleys.
Bamburet is nearly two-hour journey from Chitral. Bamburet valley is a picturesque valley with lush greenery and mountains that give a sense of calm and solitude.
